Under the HCA Engineering Framework TGA was appointed for a heating replacement scheme at Finsbury Estate. The estate was constructed in the late 1960’s. Islington Council initiated a renewal project to upgrade the aging community central heating system. TGA evaluated lifecycle consequences relating to 14 individual schemes for the 328 dwellings.
The preferred option includes replacement of the roof level boiler plant with new high efficiency equipment located in a new, ground level energy centre complex, incorporating: high efficiency condensing boiler plant, new primary and secondary circulating pumps, pipe distribution systems, plate heat exchanger units, new indirect hot water cylinders heat emitters and controls in the individual dwellings and all controlled via BEMS.
TGA’s proposals are also compatible with Islington Council’s plans to extend a municipal heat and power network into the area.
