Heritage Projects

TGA have extensive experience working in the specialist role of conservation building services engineer in the Historic / Heritage Project sector, on projects ranging from churches, castles and cathedrals through roman forts, walled gardens, stately homes, museums, galleries and other historic buildings. A number of these projects are listed below, with further information available on request. 

Hatton Gallery, Newcastle

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were engaged by Newcastle University to carry out the full MEP services design associated with the refurbishment of the Hatton Gallery, which is located within their Fine Art Building.

 

St Nicholas Cathedral

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by the Chapter of St Nicholas Cathedral for the refurbishment of the existing aged electrical services.

Durham Cathedral

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by the Dean and Chapter of Durham Cathedral to work on a major project to redevelop their exhibition space.

Hexham Abbey

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP have been engaged to act as Mechanical & Electrical Consulting Engineers on the £2m HLF funded refurbishment of the former Monastic buildings at Hexham Abbey.

 

The Castle Keep & Black Gate

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by Newcastle City Council on behalf of the Heart of City Partnership to design and supervise the Mechanical and Electrical services installations for the refurbishment of The Black Gate.

Durham Castle

TGA Consulting Engineers were engaged by Durham University, under our framework agreement, to work as Building Services Consulting Engineers to refurbish Durham Castle.

Auckland Castle

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were commissioned by Auckland Castle Trust to design and supervise the Mechanical & Electrical Services associated with this HLF funded refurbishment project.

Bowes Museum

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were commissioned by the Bowes Museum to design and supervise the Mechanical & Electrical Services and Lift installations associated with the access to collections project.

 

Beamish Museum

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by Beamish Museum to design and supervise the Mechanical & Electrical services installations for the Colliery Lamp Cabin.

British Museum

Iona Abbey

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by Historic Scotland for the restoration of the Abbey’s mechanical & electrical services.

Birdoswald Roman Fort

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by English Heritage to design & supervise the Mechanical & Electrical services installations associated with the refurbishment of the Museum at Birdoswald Roman Fort on Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland.

Chesters Roman Fort

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by English Heritage to design & supervise the Mechanical & Electrical services installations associated with the refurbishment of the Museum at Chesters Roman Fort on Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland.

Ledston Hall

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were commissioned by the Wheler foundation as part of a design team led by Purcell Architects in York.

Jesmond Dene Banqueting Hall

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by the Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust as part of a multidisciplinary team lead by Steve Miller Architects to restore and redevelop the Jesmond Dene Banqueting Hall.

Neville Hall 

Neville Hall is a Grade II listed building in the centre of Newcastle which is the headquarters of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.

Bolton Abbey

TGA were engaged by the PCC to review how the church might be best heated, working with Architects Thomas Ford and Partners, the PCC having expressed a preference for underfloor heating coupled with a ground source heat pump.

St Patrick’s Church, Patrington

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by the Parochial Church Council of St Patrick’s Church, Patrington in East Yorkshire to provide advice associated with upgrading the mechanical and electrical engineering services in the Church.

St Mary’s Church, Fountains Abbey

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by English Heritage to advise on works to replace the existing oil fired heating installation in St Mary’s Church at Fountains Abbey.
