Regents Park Estate

Tibbalds muti-disciplinary team was appointed under the HCA framework to provide professional services associated with the Regents Park Estate regeneration project.

The £40m regeneration project covers nine sites within the curtilage of the existing estate and involves the creation of 112 new homes across the existing Regents Park Estate to rehouse residents displaced demolition due to by major infrastructure works.

A detailed review of the building envelope was undertaken as part of a fabric first approach to design. Passivhaus standards were targeted but for various technical and economic reasons an optimum strategy was selected, which exhibits excellent thermal characteristics.

TGA’s engineering ability has been used to technically appraise appropriate solutions at concept level to identify clear candidates for assessment. A detailed assessment of the most appropriate strategies for energy generation and delivery has been undertaken and a mix of solution is proposed across the nine development sites that are currently under consideration.

Examples of the strategies include connection into future heat networks, communal plant installations for individual blocks and local installations with supplementary carbon reduction technologies.

All analysis has been undertaken in line with planning policy with the aim of achieving a 35% carbon reduction beyond Part L1 requirements.
