The Mining Art Museum

The Mining Arts Gallery was commissioned to house the Gemini Collection of mining arts. The work displayed showcases the skill and creativity of the miners and celebrates the achievements of the mining artists as a vital aspect of coalfield heritage.

The Mechanical systems included a humidity led wet heating system to the gallery areas complete with individual space climate sensors and a heat recovery solution to the education space.

Electrically the lighting was designed primarily for display purposes with adequate background lighting to supplement it. All the lighting in the exhibition space was designed on an intelligent and flexible controls system with scenes set up for the exhibition, the display spot lights are individually dimmable with adjustable lens focus. A high level security system complete with CCTV was installed and this feeds back to a remote control room, this is the same for the fire alarm system, which is of the highest level, category L1. There’s power and data throughout to ensure the exhibition displays can remain flexible, including floor boxes for remote locations.
