TGA’s David Warwick recently had a telephone interview with Helen Coulson, the Just Transition Project Coordinator for the Energy Democracy Project, who are working with the North of Tyne Combined Authority about their Just Transition programme as a key stakeholder from across the construction/built environment sector working on sustainable and low-carbon design taking part in the first phase of research.
They are working in partnership with the North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA) to conduct research with workers, businesses, organisations, and communities to examine the opportunities and challenges in relation to supporting a just transition to a low-carbon economy in the region.
This research will form the basis of a Just Transition Report (to be published in June 2023), which will outline recommendations for policymakers on how they decarbonise society and the economy in an effective and fair way based on the expertise of people and businesses in our region.
David was asked to give his thoughts on the future direction of sustainable design and engineering and net-zero approaches to building performance. He also spoke about his involvement in helping to decarbonise buildings and some of the possibilities and challenges related to that process.
