Durham County Councils Morrison Busty Depot has now reopened as a low carbon site after its £8m refit.
This project included creating a 3MWp solar farm, a 2MWh battery storage facility, a private wire distribution network, an extensive electric vehicle charging system and substantial improvements to buildings on the site.
The goal was to reduce carbon emissions in support of DCC’s Climate Emergency Response Plan pledge to achieve net zero by 2030. TGA are proud to have been a part of it alongside Howarth Litchfield.
Overall, the project will result in the depot being Net Zero Carbon in operational energy, reducing DCC’s overall operational carbon emissions by 4%.
The project has been named as a finalist in the National Association of Public Service Excellence Awards, in the Best Climate Action and Decarbonisation Initiative category.
