The Durham Light Infantry (DLI) Museum in Aykley Heads is set to be refurbished and reopen, after being closed for 6 years, as an exhibition centre, gallery and café venue which will include a dedicated space for the display of items from the DLI Collection and Archive.
The new centre intends to celebrate the building’s heritage, with 15,000 objects from the regiment’s history being displayed within the gallery. As well as this, national and international art events will be taking place, attracting more visitors and investors.
The overall works taking place include a transformation of the existing building with a large extension, a new exhibition space, cafe and garden.
TGA are currently supporting Norr Architecture and Avison Young on this project with a full compliment of Building Services, Specialist Lighting and Building Performance teams respectively.
