  • Hull Public Realm

In recent months, TGA’s Specialist Lighting team has been growing its public realm portfolio, with work directed towards revitalising and improving the functionality, visual appeal, and accessibility of urban spaces.

    Project Summary

TGA are engaged as part of a design team led by LDA Design on a city centre improvement programme on behalf of Hull City Council. The project focuses on three key street in the City Centre; High Street, Princes Dock Street and Humber Dock Street. All three locations are former dockside areas which form an important part of Hull’s maritime history.

The scheme aims to improve access, highlight the history of the city and provide space for contemplation. The project aims to complete the ‘Maritime Trail’ (which includes other TGA projects such as Queen’s Gardens and the Maritime Museum) connecting the city’s heritage to harness the vibrancy of the Old Town and Fruit Market areas of the city.

TGA Specialist Lighting have been engaged to deliver the lighting components for this project, which focuses on reimagining key areas of Hull City Centre. The areas are to be reimagined with general street lighting combined with decorative elements to provide not only a safe environment but also to improve night time ambience. This is achieved by carefully coordinating various luminaires with the historical elements and green architecture to provide a holistic vision for the city.

Additionally, TGA’s Mechanical and Electrical Engineers have been appointed to provide support to the project, liaising with statutory authorities to provide vital infrastructure.
