TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by Willmott Dixon for the Mechanical & Electrical Services Design, from RIBA Stages C to E. This £6.6m development was undertaken using the SCAPE Framework and forms part of Darlington’s emerging Central Park Enterprise Zone.

Project Summary

The development is able to house up to 64 new and developing local businesses and offers flexible office space and support. Funding for the development was provided by the European Regional Development Fund and the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA).

Working alongside Lead Consultant and Architect P&HS and BGP Consulting Engineers (Civil & Structural) the project was designed utilising 3D design tools and was developed generally in accordance with BIM Level 2 (to RIBA Stage E only).

There are 52 units of varying size with space for up to 60 firms. Using natural ventilation, exposed soffits, energy efficient lighting with daylight controls plus photovoltaics, the building was able to achieve an Excellent BREEAM rating and an EPC A rating.
