Moat Park is located near the village of Great Easton near Dunmow in Essex. The village comprises a mix of residential accommodation for independent living and on-site care home facilities. TGA have been engaged by Retirement Villages for multiple appointments at various stages of the villages development.

Project Summary

Appointment A – TGA’s initial appointment at the Essex site provided construction phase performance monitoring services for the development of a 60 bed assisted living care home and supporting staff accommodation units.

The engineering services included the provision of central energy generation via gas fired boilers with CHP plant, sprinkler system and building utilities infrastructure.

Appointment B – The second appointment was associated with the development of a three story block forming 26 extra care apartments including guest suite.

TGA provided full sustainability services during the early design stages including preparation of the sustainable development strategy, low and zero carbon energy appraisal. This included the provision of solar thermal hot water generation. Mechanical and electrical engineering services designs were developed to form a detailed performance specification for tender purposes. TGA provided technical assurance monitoring duties during the construction and commissioning stage.


Appointment C — The project comprised the conversion of the existing second floor roof space in the existing phase 1 care home to form 12 extra care apartments, associated nursing facilities including training room, communal and circulation spaces. The project also included the construction of two new two storey cottages for independent living.

The project was procured as design and build with TGA providing robust performance specifications, developed design drawings and technical assurance monitoring duties during the construction and commissioning stage.
