TGA were engaged by York University, under our framework agreement to work on a wide range of projects at their campus’ at their Heslington East, and Heslington West campus’ as well as in Kings Manor in the centre of York itself.
Project Summary
York University is organised into a series of colleges which each offer academic facilities as well as student accommodation and associated pastoral services and facilities.
TGA have been engaged by the University Estates Department to work in a wide variety of these buildings.
Project works have involved refurbishment of M&E services within student accommodation facilities throughout the Heslington Campus including in Derwent, Vanburgh, Wentworth, James, Goodriche and Langwith Colleges.
We have also worked within academic accommodation in the physics, chemistry and biology departments.
TGA have been involved in the phased renewal of life expired services infrastructure including low voltage electrical wiring, automatic fire detection and alarm systems and emergency lighting systems.
Such works have frequently been complicated by the presence of asbestos within 1960’s CLASP type buildings requiring that our engineers arrive at innovative design solutions to enable new services to be installed with the minimal level of impact on the building fabric.
We have also worked in central academic facilities, most recently in Central Hall which is pictured above, with Vanbrugh College in the background.
