Kirkleatham Housing Development
TGA are working with JDDK Architects as part of the team for Vistry Partnerships North East’s £55 million Kirkleatham scheme, on the edge of Redcar.
The scheme will see the construction of 75 homes designed for residents with a wide range of support needs, including adults over 55, residents with accessibility requirements and others with learning disabilities. The homes are to be a mixture of 45 two and three person apartments within a three storey building which will also contain shared social spaces, hobby rooms, laundry, hair salon/shop and office space for support staff. There will also be six wheelchair accessible, four person bungalows, 12 two person two storey homes and 12 three person two storey apartments.
This project will eventually provide 375 properties – 187 for private sale, 80 for private rent and 108 for shared ownership and affordable rent.
Kirkleatham Housing Development are the first homes on a North East new build housing development specifically designed to offer properties of all tenures.
Some low carbon technologies in this project include Air Source Heat Pump hot water cylinders within each residential unit, reducing carbon emissions by 50% compared to a typical residential unit with a combi gas boiler. In addition, low water use fittings reduce water use. There will also be electric car charge points in the parking area.
