Brunel University – Wilfred Brown Building

The original 3-storey building was constructed in 1966 and was extended in the 1970’s and again between 1990 and 1995. The refurbishment of this 3700m² building includes replacement of the building envelope, the M&E services installations and remodelling of the interior.

Durham Business School

The redevelopment of Durham Business School included a complete refurbishment of the existing development as well as a major new build. TGA were initially engaged in 2010 and the £12.5m project was completed, on programme, in 2013. TGA designed all the M&E services.

Newcastle University – Medspan Refurbishments

TGA Consulting Engineers LLP were employed by Newcastle University to carry out the full Mechanical and Electrical Services Design a large scale refurbishment of research laboratories in the Medical School.

Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology

Research has indicated that the UK sends aluminium alloys containing a high proportion of iron to landfill. If processes can be developed and suitably upscaled then initial research indicates the equivalent of around 11 million barrels of oil could be saved in the UK alone. BCAST2 will be at the forefront of this research development.

Cleveland Fire and Rescue Headquarters Building

TGA Consulting Engineers were appointed as part of the construction team to deliver the Technical Hub and Training Facility (Smoke House) for Cleveland Fire & Rescue Services. The project formed part of a £22m framework between the CFRS and ISG, which also included a Technical Hub, Training Facility (Smoke House) and 4 fire stations.

The Green Howards’ Museum

TGA were commissioned by English Heritage to design and supervise the M&E services installations associated with the refurbishment of the existing Lodge building at Conisbrough Castle to form a new Visitor Centre.

During the construction of the Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC) TGA were engaged to complete the Construction, design and installation information on behalf the M&E contractor. Their involvement from an early stage enabled the building model to be developed with actual manufacturers information, which provided detailed installation information.

The flexible approach delivered by TGA enabled builders work holes in structural elements to be detailed very early in the programme, which had cost and programme benefits.

A Level 2 BIM model was required for the project, with TGA being very proactive in developing this and guided the site team and other team members with the delivery of their respective elements.

TGA helped to provide a very technically demanding building successfully, which incorporated complex MEP, Architectural and Structural co-ordination.
